Two software programs born in Belgium with very different ambitions.

Odoo and Teamleader share a Belgian origin but target different markets. Odoo, founded in Nivelles by Fabien Pinckaers in 2005, is now one of the most widely used open source ERPs in the world, deployed in both SMEs and large enterprises. Teamleader, founded in Ghent in 2012 by Jeroen De Wit, was specifically designed for small teams that want to manage CRM, quotes, and invoicing in a simple tool. Absent. Teamleader Focus does not manage inventory. If your business involves goods to track, Teamleader is not suitable, regardless of its ease of use otherwise.

Complete Project module: tasks, kanban, Gantt, subtasks, time tracking, hourly billing, client portal for project tracking. Native connection with CRM and billing.


TEAMLEADER

Well-thought-out project management for services and agencies: task planning, time tracking, direct link to billing. Simple and effective for phased projects. Teamleader Orbit goes further for agencies with more than 20 people.

E-COMMERCE


ODOO

Complete e-commerce module integrated with product catalog, inventory, and accounting. Functional online store without third-party tools, with client portal and online payment.

TEAMLEADER

Absent. Teamleader does not offer an e-commerce module. This feature would require integration with a third-party tool like Shopify or WooCommerce.

ODOO

Functional richness comes at a price: Odoo requires professional support for proper deployment. The initial setup is complex, and the risk of a poorly sized project is real without expertise.

TEAMLEADER

One of the major strengths of the product. Designed to be operational in a few hours. The interface is clean, guided workflows, and accessible support. Ideal for teams without internal IT resources.

CUSTOMIZATION


ODOO

Almost unlimited customization via Odoo Studio (Custom plan), development of specific modules, modification of views, custom workflows, custom fields. The platform can be adapted to any business flow.

TEAMLEADER

Customization limited to standard settings: custom fields, tags, statuses. No module development. What the product does not cover natively, it cannot cover.

Designed to support long-term growth. Modules are activated as needed. Small businesses remain on Odoo as they grow into organizations of several hundred people.

TEAMLEADER

Teamleader Focus is designed for teams of 2 to 20 people. Beyond that, Teamleader Orbit takes over for agencies. Outside of this scope, the tool reaches its functional limits quite quickly.



SCALABILITY

ODOO

Competitive license per user. Total cost is higher in the first year due to implementation. Over 3 to 5 years and with a broad functional scope, the value for money is excellent compared to a set of specialized tools.


TEAMLEADER

Quick and inexpensive setup. The subscription is predictable. If additional tools are added to fill the gaps (inventory, accounting, e-commerce), the total cost may exceed that of a unified ERP.
